What is a Pickle Picker?

pickle-picker-

I had not a clue, until my mom and I where cleaning up aunt Ellie’s home, rest her soul. Took us about half hour to figure out what we had in our hands. Apparently she was very practical in the kitchen, I would never thought of such a gadget, but also I’m not a big eater of pickled anything.

So the moral of the story.  A pickle picker is a kitchen utensil which is designed to assist people with the task of removing pickles from jars, it is a classic example of the so-called “unitasker” a tool which is designed to perform only one function. In the most common design, a pickle picker is designed to grasp pickles in the jar, with the user manipulating a lever or plunger to open and close a set of grasping tines. More simply, a pickle picker may simply look like a two-tined fork which is stabbed into the desired pickle, as the pickle will not slide off.

Alright folks now I’m proud owner of two pickle pickers, sound like tongue twister, and thank you aunt Ellie for educating me on the subject!
